Seriously, though, Grant is such a good actor. Each look says something else but shows that he has a heart.

The bottom one is him still progressing. He realizes that he screwed up. The prank ended up with Blaine in the hospital, and you can tell he feels so guilty just by the one glance, his eyes kind of going  down. He sees the shock and disgust on Trent’s face, and he feels it about himself as well, but he’s just too damn proud to step down.

The next one from the bottom, that disgust has escalated to a whole other level. He’s not just sent Blaine to the hospital with an eye patch (which is bad enough), but he bullied someone who’s now in the hospital because he tried to commit suicide. He realizes that what he said made someone that desperate, try to jump off of that ledge, and he can’t even begin to forgive himself for it. It was all just a game to him - the verbal banter, the pranks, the blackmail. But now someone almost died, and he realizes, this isn’t a joke. This isn’t funny. And more than that, he realizes he was the bad guy. And it scares him that he was capable of that.

The Michael moment is the famous kind of “oh shit” moment. It’s the first major thing he’s done wrong. Okay, fine, he’s been a douche before this. He’s tried to pick up Blaine, he’s flirted, but it’s all been fairly innocent. This is the first time he’s physically harmed someone, and he realizes that he’s messed up to the point where he can’t justify himself. And he cares about Blaine. You can’t deny that after watching ‘On My Way’, but even then, from that look, it’s obvious that he cares. That he feels horrible. But instead of confronting it, he just flees. He can’t let anyone see that about him. He can’t put his guard down. So, he runs away and tries to play it off.

The top one screams apology - for what he did, for realizing how much of an asshole he was being and for now knowing that it could cause so much worse damage than anything he’s done so far. He’s wronged every one of the people standing around him, and instead of getting defensive like he did after the bottom one, he swallows his pride. Finally, he stands back, and he goes, “Look, guys, I fucked up, but I need you to know that I’m sorry.”
